The Star Wars franchise is looking to have one big winter next year when it drops two big bombs on the entertainment industry. We have the newest Star Wars movie set to be released, which is titled The Force Awakens, and a new video game that will be brought to us by a Dice and EA partnership. Star Wars: Battlefront will be the next hit video game in the line of games that focus around the highly popular Star Wars franchise.
One must ask a very interesting question, which is will the new movie have any impact on the direction the video game will be taking? Could it be that the new Battlefront video game will be made to reflect what might be coming in the movie, the characters that we see, the weapons we might use, or even the vehicles that might be available for us to drive? The more you think about it, the more it seems not only plausible, but very likely.
Really without knowing that much about the game, we can only really take guesses at this point. However, it would seem there might be some common elements used in both The Force Awakens, and in Star Wars: Battlefront. It only seems fitting that they would want to market each hit after each other in order to capitalize the most in both the box office, and in the gaming industry.
I think as more and more information comes out for both the game, and for the movie, we possibly might see some elements that do cross over into the video game. Seriously, wouldn’t it make sense that after watching the movie that you would want to simply play it now?
Could it be the opposite, of course, but if I were a betting man I would say that we are looking at the real possibility that the game and movie will run side by side, or least have some portions that overlap. They could in the end develop the game by itself, with its own storyline, and its own set of unique attributes. If you look at it in a straight marketing view, you almost have to think they wouldn’t do that, but like I mentioned, these are all guesses at this point.
2015 is definitely shaping up to be a big year for the Star Wars franchise regardless of how the movie and the video game tie into each other.
