When the word hit the street about Dice making Star Wars: Battlefront, you can expect there were many happy faces from both the gaming industry and from fans alike. When you look at a franchise like Star Wars you really should expect the best, and quite frankly that is what the fans of the franchise expect as well.
So when it was discovered that Dice had a hand in the next Star Wars game, there was plenty of excitement to go around. While there might be some changes that the hardcore Battlefront players may not like, like going from a third person to a first person shooter, overall the game has to be a huge improvement over previous titles.
Here are just a few things that we can take from the very successful Battlefield franchise that we might be able to expect in Star Wars: Battlefront.
Dice Making Star Wars Battlefront Is Awesome
1. Destructible Environments
This is something they do very well, and it really adds a whole new level to gaming. We can almost certainly expect there will be environments, or maps, that feature destructible areas that will be similar to what they have done in the Battlefield franchise.
2. Regular DLC Releases
One of the biggest things that kept me playing, and still playing, Battlefield was the fact there was always something cool to look forward to with their DLC releases. There was five DLC releases for Battlefield 4 that helped to bring new maps, weapons, vehicles, and more. There was always new stuff to look forward to that helped to keep the game fresh, and simply fun to play.
3. First Person Shooter Pro’s
One of the biggest tweaks is the fact they are changing the game to a first person shooter, which while most will love, there will be some hardcore fans that may not like the direction it’s going. While I welcome the change, you can be assured it will be done right as Dice is very good at making first person shooter games. This is one of their stronger points, and we have nothing to worry about.
4. Well Designed Maps
I have played many games that were really fun and enjoyable, but the maps or graphics simply lacked. You could also have a game with great maps or environments, but the gameplay is simply not up to speed with what you should expect. Dice seems to be able to provide both, and their maps are quite astounding to say the least.
5. Commitment To Players
While most games these days seem buggy, or pushed out to simply make deadlines, it seems Dice is committed to their players or being active in correcting issues. I have played many first person shooters where things are never addressed, or fixed, that end up leaving the players with a product that is garbage. Dice has made improvements, they have limited hacking, they have corrected issues, and they appear to be doing the things the players want.
While there are many reasons to be excited about the fact that Dice is making Star Wars: Battlefront, these are simply five of the things that appear rather obvious when looking at their Battlefield franchise.
