Electronic Arts and Dice are scheduled to release the Outer Rim DLC tomorrow, April 5th, to all Star Wars Battlefront players. This is first of four DLC’s being released that should leave many players with a smile on their face as they get new content to play with. While the DLC has been available to all Season Pass holders for some time now, it is now slated to hit the general public come tomorrow.
Battlefront players who haven’t yet downloaded the new Outer Rim DLC will certainly appreciate all the bug fixes and improvements that come bundled with this release. If you want to see the full list of changes, bug fixes, and tweaks that you can expect, you can view them here. What I really want to share with you is what I have liked thus far after playing the new expansion for over a week now.
As mentioned, there are plenty of new changes, but here are some of the things that seem to stand out the most.
Outer Rim DLC Highlights
- New maps – Jabba’s Throne Room, the Sail Barge Garage, and Sullust industrial complex
- New heroes – Greedo and Nien Nunb
- New game mode – Extraction
- Ranks extended from a maximum of 50 to 60
- Hutt Contracts
- Dioxis Grenande and Scatter Gun
There are some other cool items such as new Star Cards, some guns, and some menu updates – but those listed above are probably the best things in this new Outer Rim DLC. The thing I find the most fun out of them all is the new Extraction game mode. This piece of the update really makes the biggest difference in my opinion, and I think most players if not all, will find this new game mode really fun to play.
The next best thing in my opinion are the Hutt Contracts. This is where you can unlock new Battlefront weapons and Star Cards by completing certain tasks asked by Jabba the Hutt. Once I maxed at level 50, and felt there was nothing left to achieve, this is an added plus as it gives you more content to unlock. The only downside to these Hutt Contracts is that they made it a bit too easy, and you will find that it takes about a week to unlock them all.
Besides the new Extraction game mode, and Hutt Contracts, the last thing that I think people will love are the new maps. The new locations give the game a nice fresh appeal that will help to keep the game fun and exciting. It does suck when you play the same maps over and over, especially when the amount of maps is small in number and your find your self in some endless loop. These new maps will help to alleviate some of that player boredom that will often arise after hours of game play.
The new heroes are of course very cool bringing new styles and attributes to the game, and I found them to be quite deadly if used correctly. There are some new weapons, but I seem to find the new Dioxis Grenade and Scatter Gun to be my favorites. The Scatter Gun can shoot through Personal Shields which make it very effective when an enemy decides to pull one out real quick on you.
Again, those are just some of the new updates and changes that I felt made the biggest impression on Star Wars Battlefront.
