Electronic Arts recently tweeted that they will not be including any DLC relating to The Force Awakens in this Star Wars Battlefront game release. While this does suck, as I was truly hoping that we would see something that would allow us to play as characters, on maps, or scenarios that relate to the latest movie, it sounds like we will have to wait just a little bit longer.
@ninjachris404 Our team is focusing on the original trilogy for this release of Star Wars Battlefront.

I really thought that Star Wars Battlefront was going to lead right into The Force Awakens since the movie was released nearly at the same time, plus they had given us the Battle of Jakku DLC. It just made sense that they would use the movie to help feed sales of the game, but apparently they have some other ideas or plans in place.
@gabrieljovalle Currently we are focused on the original trilogy of films. We have no other content plans to announce at this time.

I do believe it will most likely be released in Star Wars Battlefront II, but then again I am just guessing at this point. They could in fact release a Battlefront game that corresponds directly with each of the specific Star Wars trilogies. So in this first Battlefront release they will primarily focus on material that surrounds Episodes IV, V, and VI in the original trilogy, but maybe in the next game it will be focused around Episodes I, II and III.
If they are going to stick to certain Star Wars trilogies, why did they release the Battle of Jakku? I guess you could argue that the movie is actually based on post Battle of Jakku therefore it doesn’t really pertain to Episode VII. Also, while Sullust is something that wasn’t really in the original trilogy either, it was mentioned by Darth Vader at one point.

So while many of us are really bummed about not getting anything relating to The Force Awakens in this release, it will be coming at some point. There will be 4 more DLC’s coming in this Battlefront release that will have some new material that should keep the multiplayer gameplay feeling fresh, but I am looking forward to news on when EA plans to introduce some Episode VII content.
What do you think? Do you think they should have focused on The Force Awakens content so it would coincide with the movie? Let us know what you think by leaving us a comment below, or drop by the forum and let us know your thoughts.
