Have you watched the new Starfighter Assault gameplay trailer yet? Well if you haven’t, I highly suggest you watch it below before going any further. This is one hell of a cool trailer that sheds some light on what we could expect in the upcoming beta test. We get to check out some of the maps that will be available, the ships we can expect to encounter, and even some of the heroes piloting their own fighters.
First of all, let’s discuss some of the maps that we can expect in this new game mode. During the trailer, we got to see at least five different locations that we will be fighting in and around. There will the debris left over from the second Death Star explosion, Fondor where they build Star Destroyers, and even Kamino where the clone army was developed.
The Unknown Regions – Resurgent Star Destroyer
Endor – Death Star Debris
Fondor – Imperial Shipyard
Kamino – Research Outpost
Ryloth – Lucrehulk Battleship
Personally, I think Kamino looks pretty wild but they honestly all look fun to play.
There are also tons of ships and fighters in the trailer as well. We have the giant Star Destroyers, TIE Fighters, X-Wings, Y-Wings, ARC-170’s, and the Rebel Attack Cruiser to just name a few. This trailer is packed full of ships flying, dying, and dog fights. We even get to see the Resurgent class Star Destroyer of the First Order and Kylo Ren.
Last but not least, are the heroes and hero ships. This is where I think it gets really interesting. Let’s start off with the ships that we see in the trailer. There is the Millennium Falcon, Slave-I, TIE Advanced x1, and even a Jedi Starfighter.
Darth Vader and Darth Maul make appearances in TIE Advanced x1 aircraft, and Yoda in his Jedi Starfighter. While seeing heroes piloting ships is something new for the game, I don’t see anything wrong with it. I know some fans of the game have been commenting on the trailer showing their dislike for such a move.
