Well we had a feeling that Star Wars Battlefront would be big, and EA is now predicting Battlefront sales to be nearly 13 million copies sold. During yesterday’s Electronic Arts investor conference call, Peter Moore who happens to be the Chief Operating Officer, had the following to say about the games expectations.
We feel very good about 13 million units
Now back in the early summer, EA was hoping that they could initially sell 10 million copies, but after the enormous beta that just wrapped up they felt that they had to revise some of their numbers. The recent open Battlefront beta became their most played ever where nearly 9.5 million people participated in the nearly week long event.
Now that they they have witnessed the hype due to the beta participation, Electronic Arts has a really good feeling that this game will certainly become the next blockbuster video game to hit the market. To put this in some perspective, Battlefield 4 which is another very popular game, has sold nearly 13 million copies worldwide to date.
You have to also consider the game was released in 2013, and with the new Star Wars movies being released with the media frenzy and fan hype, Star Wars Battlefront is set to make its mark on the gaming community.
Star Wars Battlefront is also only for new consoles such as Xbox One, PlayStation 4. and PC platforms, so if there is a run to start buying new gaming consoles you could see the number of copies sold push even higher.
2015 is surely setting up to be the year that Star Wars returns, both at the movies and in our gaming hearts, the only question that really remains is how big will the return of the greatest trilogy become.
Star Wars Battlefront is set to hit the shelves on November 17th, which is only a few weeks away.
