We found out out not too long ago that Battlefront space battles will not be in this latest reboot by Dice and EA, but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be any in the upcoming sequels.
While the news was disappointing to fans who were really looking forward to having galactic space battles, Dice explained they wanted to concentrate on keeping players in the same environment and there was only so much they could do in this first release.
We want players to stay in the same [environment] – we don’t want players to fly off and do something over here. It’s about the Battlefront experience, so we want to keep you in-atmosphere and fighting with the infantry.
[As a studio] we have to start somewhere. You can’t do everything at once. We want to build something that’s great for what it is, and have a holistic view on what we’re trying to achieve, rather than tossing everything in there from the start.
In my opinion, I think they will work on bringing this to the game as they know fans want that to be part of the Battlefront experience. There seems to be no better way to battle, than to have a Battlefront space battle featuring Imperial Star Destroyers, rebel X-Wings, or even the Death Star.
So while we won’t have them in this first edition of Battlefront, I am almost betting that we will see space battles coming in either Battlefront 2, or maybe even 3.
